Around 2 hours later the sound stopped working. When you look in Device Manager what do you see? I should say at this point that i did try to install a 3rd party ATI TV card with an Audio output into an expansion slot. This thread is locked. I guess i could install it again and pay more attention to the Device Manager device listiings. When you look in Device Manager what do you see?

Let’s make sure that the speaker icon isn’t disabled. Sorry this didn’t help. I know the on board sound can work becasue thats where I was plugged into while I had sound. My machine has on board HDMI sound hardware. There may have been a conflict with the ATI card.

Deleted the device and then rebotted and the machine and it finds and installs the driver. Searched for updated drivers etc.
After you install the driver, reboot and test your sound. Please let us know if this did or didn’t correct your issue. This site in other languages x. I made Speakers the default but it disappeared on it own a couple hours later and carx i have no sound again. Does anyone have a solution for this?

Did this solve your problem? Ususally there is no sound until I then remove the card and reboot. Also going to assume that you’ve allowed windows update to update the drivers of your computer.
That should be your correct driver, and will end the conflict with your sound driver. In reply cadd kodirvd’s post on July 22, Do you see any?
The device manager lists the sound as High Definition Audio Device – the properites are: This particular xps has an nVidia chipset, and the driver that windows update tries to install if you allow it is the wrong video driver, which for crd at least caused a driver conflict with the elusive fifth HDMI sound driver your speakers.
How satisfied are you with this reply? Their solution to me was to send this TV card so that I could just use the sound output from it.
